This optical drive drawer, located at the side of a laptop, is used as a burning device. A person must ensure that a computer has a CD or DVD device that will enable him or her to burn a CD. Presently, most computers have a CD burner that enables an individual to burn both audio and data CDs. On the other hand, some computers have CD/DVD burner in combination to allow a person tocreate audio CDs, data CDs, and data DVDs. * A blank CD is required. The type of CD chosen varies with type of disc being created, i.e. audio CDs require a CD-R format disc. However, to be able to erase or add more files later, CD-RW is recommended. It is crucial to note that CD-R discs are compatible with most CD players. Besides being more expensive compared with CD-R, CD-RW is not compatible with all CD pla yers.Overview of steps 1 2 Open CD-burning device. This drawer is shown in figure 1 above. If a computer does not have the internal CD drive device, external drive device can be used by connecting it through the USB port. 3 The second step is to obtain a CD-R or CD-RW. CD-R is used for purposes of permanent storage simply because it can be burned once. On the contrary, CD-RW is rewritable hence there is a possibility of burning, erasing, and burning it again. The nature of data stored in CD-RW is temporary. 4 This is the step where a person decides on the type of CD to burn i.e. music, data, MP3, and Disk image. As an example, music CD is created for purposes of using it at home or automobile devices. 5 The forth step is to decide on program that will be used to burn the CD. In this particular instruction exercise, a Windows Media Player will be used as a program to burn the CD.Burning the CD 1 Insert the CD drive. It can be either in built drive or external drive. Ensure CD has no scratch then insert as shown in the figure above. Ensure it is aligned well. Then close the drawer.
